Entering Work Descriptions

Entering Locations

The Manage Work and Locations screen stores a summary of work to be completed. It also provides informational text to alert users to existing highway conditions or activities at the location selected on their permit application that may impact their ability to perform work for a permit or bridge license.

Applicants are required to enter a work summary before submitting an application.

Receivers and Reviewers can add detailed location information. Optional Location fields are available for entry of a specific county, SR identification, segment number, and offset details. If location information is stored, multiple standard work descriptions can be selected and applied for each location.

Reviewers can add work summaries during the review process but cannot edit existing summaries. Editing of the standard Work Descriptions database is reserved for PennDOT personnel.

Work Location Validation Messages

When the Save button is clicked the Work Locations Validation Messages popup displays. It alerts users to conditions for a selected work location that may impact an applicant's ability to perform work for a permit or bridge license. These validations include verification of:

·        Planned or in-progress construction at the selected location

·        Planned or in-progress maintenance at the selected location

·        Posted or Posted and Bonded road at the selected location

·        Limited Access highway at the selected location (for driveway and miscellaneous applications only)

·        Other active HOP permit(s) at or near the selected location
